Preliminary Notice – 2nd IF-FORUM of 2011 – Humans & Knowledge (&Science)
Now the date has been decided upon: on Wednesday, July, 20th, 2011, at the usual time,
Mr. Prof. Dr. Gerhard Haszprunar
will give a presentation at the IF Forum about
Evolution or Creation? – An Attempt at a Synthesis.
Here is a short overview:
Creationism versus “New Atheists”, “Image of God” versus “Ape in the Nude”:
Creationist theory and evolutionary theory seem to represent totally opposing positions. If, however, you dig deeper into theology, cosmology and evolutionary biology, you will find there is a synthesis in the form of “creationist evolution” where both elements actually complement each other. An omni-potent God – one in whom you might but are not forced to believe – also encompasses the natural laws. The indisputable micro-physical coincidence causes the cosmic and individual freedom given to us by the loving creator.
With this presentation, our speaker will do justice to the motto “Humans and Knowledge (and Science)” – after it has been brilliantly opened by Dr. Stefan Gillessen in this year’s first IF Forum with “How the Big Bang Sounded”.
Herr Prof. Dr. Gerhard Haszprunar combines many positions in one person. Among them are:
- Chairholder for Systematic Zoology and Director of the GeoBio Centre at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. (LMU)
- Director General of the Staatlichen Naturwissenschaftlichen Sammlungen Bayerns (SNSB)
- Director of the “ Zoologischen Staatssammlung München” (ZSM)
